The Reglazing Process

When the refinisher arrives, the item (s) to be reglazed will be assessed. If there are any

alterations to the  phone quote, or areas of concern they will be addressed at this time.

2nd Step : Equipment is brought in and set up on a drop cloth.  This does require several trips in and

out of your home. Please make driveway parking available when possible.

3rd Step  : If applicable, the window is opened, masking paper is placed, and an exhaust fan is put in. If a

bathroom window is not available, another window within 20 to 40 feet of the bathroom

will be used.

4th Step : The existing caulking is removed, or cut back as far as possible, allowing us to cover as much of

the surface as possible.

5th Step  :The drain screen and drain trip lever  (also known as the overflow plate )  are removed if possible.

6th Step  : The surface is cleaned with an abrasive cleanser or an industrial chemical designed to

remove excessive soap film.

7th Step  : At this point the surface is etched with a blend of acids and cleaning emulsions, allowing for

proper adhesion.  This process is similar to sanding a surface before it is painted.

8th Step  : If there is any restoration or repairs to be done, the damaged areas are filled  and sanded to

blend with the surrounding surface level.

9th Step  : The walls and floor adjacent to the tub are masked off  and drop cloths are laid. We ask that

the homeowner remove the masking after 24 hours .

10th Step  :Epoxy primer is applied to the surface. This particular material is used for its excellent adhesion

properties, as well as the ability to hide minor imperfections and to protect from corrosion.

11th Step  : The final step in the reglazing process is the application of the topcoat, which is an aliphatic

acrylic urethane.  With this non-porous finish, your tub has been restored to that nice shine

and easy to clean surface once again.

From start to finish, this process is usually completed within 2 to 4 hours.
